I spent a little time yesterday looking at the phenomenally painted Warhammer 40,000 armies people put online. Even one of those figures would look great on a tabletop as a mini for an RPG. Of course, there's Fantasy Flight Games' "Deathwatch," but I figured I'd continue my Microlite 20/USR pattern.
Just one of these figures will suit my needs... (Image: bloodofkittens.com)
A space marine (in this case a generic tactical marine, though it's easy enough to add something for a specialized soldier) wouldn't begin at level 1 in either system. In Microlite 20, which uses the SRD's 20-level system, level 9 gives you a pretty accomplished character without being powerful enough to take on the gods (alone, anyway). The more narrative USR system is less about advancement and special powers, so I just made that marine level 5 - veteran of a military campaign or two. They have many more abilities in the 40k fiction, but "Super-Soldiers" and "The Emperor's Finest" ought to cover it.

Scott,
I don't know the Necrons all that well, will you settle for Terminators? If there's someone else that knows the WH40k races, let's get USR 40k put together!
