Like many human boys his age, Arthur Pendragon has been training with a sword and shield for several years, planning to be a swordsman and adventurer when he was old enough. A chance encounter with a fairy priestess one early morning by the lakeside has changed his life's path, however. Arthur chanced upon an ethereal woman shaping stone into new forms. He had the feeling it was something he was not meant to see, a high magic of some kind. But the priestess spotted Arthur out of the corner of her eye, before he could slip away.
She was not angry, telling Arthur that he was meant to find her. The gods had put her in this place, near his home village, so she could give him a gift. It was a beautiful, shining sword that the fairy promised would grow in might as Arthur himself grew in power – all the way to a throne.
Arthur looks forward to that day when he will rule as a good and honest king, but for now he is content to strike down any evil that threatens the kingdom that will one day be his.

Notes
Since I'm providing stats for first level characters, this is Arthur just after pulling the sword from the stone (actually, just after he receives Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake). No Guenevere, no Mordred, not even the Round Table yet. For the most part, he's simply the epitome of the knight in shining armor.
Disagree with my stats? Have another character suggestion? Leave a comment! Thanks.
You’ll find rules for my Microlite 20 and Risus expansions, games of my own creation, and much more at my website.
